SHERWOOD SOLUTIONS STAINED WOOD SEALER is an environmentally friendly, low odour interior and exterior wood stain and sealer in one, with a natural semi-matt finish.

PRODUCT INFORMATION
  • Appearance: Semi-matt finish
  • Colours: As per colour brochure
  • Solids: ±30% by mass/volume
  • Density: >±1.0kg/litre.
  • Spreading rate: ±10m²/litre, depending on density/texture of the wood grain
  • Viscosity at 23°C: 50-70Ku
  • Flash point: Non-flammable.
  • Respecting the environment: 100% lead free and VOC compliant
  • Dispose of excess product and containers in a responsible manner, without harming the environment. This product is manufactured under strict SABS ISO 9001 quality standards.

STORAGE
  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold, in a place with adequate ventilation.
PACKAGING
  • 1Lt and 5Lt
APPLICATION DETAILS
  • Mixing: Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle to an even consistency.
  • Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Brush, sponge, lint-free cloth or airless spray.
  • Thinning: Not recommended.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with water.
  • Conditions: Temperature of between 5°C and 40°C. Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10:00 and 16:00.
  • Drying time: Touch dry: 30 minutes; hard dry: 24 hours at 23°C.
  • Recoating time: 4 hours at 23°C, depending on humidity.
  • Requirements: 2 to 4 coats.
SURFACE PREPARATION

PREPARE
New wood:
• Sand the wood with the grain using fine grit sandpaper, to eliminate damage to the surface.
• Remove sanding dust from the surface with a dry, clean cloth or paintbrush.
• Apply product as per application details.

Previously coated wood (varnished or oiled) in any surface condition:
• Treat wood with Sherwood Wood Stripper, or alternatively by means of sanding to completely remove old coatings, followed by Sherwood Wood Reviver to restore weather damage and neutralise the wood surface.
• Sand as per new wood.
• Apply product as per application details.

Weathered wood:
• Treat wood with Sherwood Wood Reviver to remove any weather damage and neutralise the wood surface.
• Sand as per new wood.
• Apply product as per application details.

APPLICATION
• All surfaces to be coated should be sound, clean, dry and free from sawdust and loose, flaking material after using the correct preparation products.
• Stir product in the container regularly with a flat paddle to achieve an even consistency during the application process.
• Apply product using the application method icons guideline.
• Apply the first coat and allow 4 hours' drying before lightly sanding with fine sandpaper or steel wool to ensure a smooth finish.
• Apply a second coat and, if desired, a third coat for the ultimate finish, allowing 4 hours' drying between coats and 24 hours for the application to dry completely.

MAINTENANCE
For regular maintenance, use Sherwood Interior Wood Preserver for interior applications and Sherwood
Exterior Wood Preserver for exterior applications, to nourish the wood surface.

LAMINATIONS
  • As with all exterior wood coating products, routine inspections are needed every 3 to 6 months. It is recommended to apply a maintenance coat every 6 months, or when the wood appears dry, to prolong the life of the Sherwood product.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight.
  • Cannot be applied directly over previous wood treatments without the correct preparation first.
  • All exposed areas of the wood must be treated.
  • Surfaces must be dry.
  • To ensure a consistent appearance, ensure that the batch numbers on all containers are the same. Where batch numbers on containers differ, intermix before use.
  • Not for use on interior floors or external decks.
  • Cannot be tinted with universal stainer.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure there is adequate ventilation during the application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested, drink plenty of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.
  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure, upright position.
  • Wear a suitable dust mask when sanding.
